One order to Traydon covered 61 geared motors for crane systems. Cranes need drives for hoist, trolley and long travel, and each movement has its own requirements.

What sets crane drives apart
A geared motor combines electric motor and gearbox in one unit. On cranes these drives run in intermittent duty: they start, brake and hold loads many times per hour.
A suitable brake, the right protection class and a motor designed for frequent switching are therefore part of the design.
